Delhi government’s Public Works Department (PWD) has allotted Bungalow No.1, constructed for ministers of the Secretariat. Offices of all the department heads are likely to be shifted to the new address by Friday. Delhi government’s public grievance redressal system will also be shifted to the same address.
PWD had constructed four bungalows at 8, Raj Niwas Marg, but AAP-led government ministers were not willing to shift there, owing to the presence of sprawling bungalows.
‘As there is no government, the LG is the head of Delhi. Every file requires his signature for clearance. The department heads have been asked to report to the new Secretariat by this weekend,’ said a senior Delhi government official.
After the imposition of President’s Rule in Delhi, chief minister and other minister’s rooms have been sealed. But all minster secretaries are sitting in their respective floors. Within a few days all secretaries will be shifted to Raj Niwas Marg shortly. The officials said that this move will ease the functioning of government.
‘Currently officials have to rush to the LG’s house for meetings almost every day, which leads to a wastage of time. More than 20-25 files requires the LG’s signature on a daily basis and some officials have to ferry the files to his house and then get back to secretariat’, a government official said.
