After a grand victory, the Aam Aadmi Party is all set to form the government in Delhi. The corridors of the Delhi Secretariat is abuzz with activities with the staff cleaning, dusting and changing folders in an attempt to make the Chief Minister’s cabin along with those of his ministers, functional.

The cleanliness drive was extended to the ten-story building in a phased manner that started early on Wednesday. The floors were swept and re-swept even as the office suites located at the top accommodating political functionaries were unlocked, dusted and readied for Chief minister-designate Arvind Kejriwal’s new Cabinet. According to a government official, the removal of plaques affixed outside the offices of Ministers bearing their names and portfolios is being carried out.

However, Arvind Kejriwal, who is to be sworn-in as the Chief Minister on Saturday, is already at work. Following his earlier resignation after holding the CM’s office for just 49 days and the imposition of President’s Rule on February 17, Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung had directed to shift the Delhi Secretariat near Raj Niwas in the newly constructed Bunglows.

It is pertinent to mention that on December 30, 2013, the Kejriwal government had banned media entry into the Secretariat corridors. Also, the second working day of the AAP government at the Delhi Secretariat had turned out to be completely chaotic with the media boycotting a press conference.

According to a Delhi Secretariat high official, “It has been decided to allow the entry of ‘aam’ visitors and media persons inside the Secretariat.” The official further cited that because free entry of media persons and visitors hinder work, strict steps are being taken.
