Delhi Police filed a 100-odd page long water-tight chargesheet against the Uber cab driver, who allegedly raped a woman executive on December 5, at a court in New Delhi on Wednesday.
According to a source, the chargesheet booked Yadav under Sections 376 (rape), 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage, etc), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code.
Yadav’s wife was also present in the court on Wednesday.
Metropolitan Magistrate Ajay Kumar Malik fixed January 2 as the date for hearing on the chargesheet. Yadav’s judicial custody was also extended till then. The police have also informed the court that 44 prosecution witnesses were cited to support the case against Yadav. The police also submitted the route-map of the case and told the court that they have relied on forensic evidences.
While being interrogated, Yadav (32) told police that the woman had boarded the cab from Vasant Vihar on December 5 night and was heading for her residence at north Delhi’s Inderlok area. The vehicle was stuck in a traffic jam near Inderlok when Yadav suddenly noticed the woman asleep on the back seat and diverted the vehicle. He drove west and stopped at a secluded place near the Najafgarh drain.
He allegedly molested the woman there. When she woke up, Yadav allegedly assaulted her physically and even tried to strangulate her. Later, he allegedly raped her. After the act, he took her mobile phone and dialled his own number, leading to a missed call. He saved the woman’s number to allegedly intimidate her. He was arrested on December 7 from Mathura.
