Delhi Metro stops services twice due to earthquake

The Delhi Metro on Saturday stopped train services twice following the massive earthquake that struck Nepal. Tremors were felt in many parts of India, including the national Capital.

“First tremors felt at 11.42 am and trains were stopped from 11.42 am to 11.52 am. Second tremors felt at 12.18 pm and trains were stopped from 12.18 pm to 12.23 pm,” a Delhi Metro spokesperson said. 

“Currently, trains are running perfectly fine,” the spokesperson added. The earthquake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale had its epicentre in Nepal’s Lamjung district, some 75 km from Kathmandu. 

Tremors were felt in Gurgaon around 11.42 am on Saturday. People rushed out of their offices and houses in various sectors. People working here in several companies, who came out of their were seen enquiring on the phone about the situation and the condition of their friends and family members. 

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday appealed for maintaining calm following an earthquake that was felt across India and Nepal, adding that the situation was being assessed.
