The satellite city Noida is going to add a new feather in its crown by clearing the final odd to provide metro connectivity between Noida, and South Delhi. The new route would also facilitate connectivity of Noida with another fast developing satellite town Faridabad.
‘The new route would ease traffic on roads as a huge population commutes between Noida, South Delhi and Faridabad. As per the Detailed Project Report about 48,000 commuters would use this route by 2017,’ said Rama Raman, Chief Executive Officer of Noida after signing of Memorandum of Understanding with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Wednesday. The MoU was signed by Raman and S D Sharma, director business development of DMRC in presence of DMRC Managing Director Mangu Singh in Metro Bhawan.
The 3.962 km route would be part of 36.28 km long Janakpuri- Botanical Garden metro route of Phase-III of Delhi metro.
It will have two stations Okhla Bird Sanctuary and Botanical Garden in Noida. The stations in Delhi region on this line are- Jamia Milia Islamia, Kalkaji, Okhla, Nehru Place, IIT, Hauz Khas, R K Puram, Vasant Vihar, IGI Airport, Palam and Janakpuri etc. The route would be operational by 2016. ‘After completion of the project Botanical Garden would be the first interchange station outside of Delhi. It will connect Noida City Center-Dwarka Sector 21 route with the new new route.
‘The projected interchange load of the new station as per the DPR will be 97,780 in 2016,’ informed a spokesperson of DMRC. The section will have the fourth metro bridge on Yamuna near Okhla Bird Sanctuary which is around 574 meters as per plan.
‘DMRC has floated tenders for metro route in Noida and work is already in progress in Delhi
region,’ added DMRC spokesperson.
The new route will be second metro route to connect Delhi and Noida as Noida City Center- Dwarka sector 21 is already operational.
