Delhi High Court on Tuesday granted interim bail to Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader and former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala for six weeks on medical grounds of undergoing pacemaker implant surgery. The court has asked Chautala to get himself admitted at Medanta Medicity within 24 hours of his release on bail for undergoing the surgery.
Chautala, along with 54 others that includes his son Ajay Chautala, is serving jail term after being convicted by a trial court in Junior Basic Trained (JBT) Teachers recruitment scam in Haryana. Chautala has moved the High Court challenging his conviction and 10-year jail term awarded in the JBT Teachers case.
The court asked Chautala to furnish a personal bond of Rs five lakh along with two sureties of like amount before the trial court as a pre-condition for his release on bail. It also asked him to surrender his passport with the trial court.
