Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit on Sunday claimed that the problem of transport has more or less been solved in Delhi. With the introduction of the Delhi Metro and a large number of Low-Floor Red and Green Buses more than 75 lakh people are comfortably commuting from one place to another every day in the city, she said. But since its not feasible to lay Metro Lines and deploy the large buses in congested localities, the Delhi government has decided to opt for Mono Rail in such localities and densely populated unatuhorised colonies. She further stated that introduction of Mono Rail in Mohan Garden and Uttam Nagar seems to be necessary. Hence the govt. has decided to conduct a detailed survey soon and take appropriate action. This was announced by the chief minister in a Mammoth Vikas Rally organised by Uttam Nagar legislator Mukesh Sharma at Mohan Garden wherein more than 80,000 people were present. Dikshit stated that the government has been concentrating on development. The process of development is on from the past 14 years, she said.
Dikshit pointed out that even political opponents have admitted that there has been a positive sea change during the past 14 years in Delhi. Despite opposing on political front they have no courage to oppose our developmental process. She stated that the new generation is fortunate as it has not seen difficulties in the sectors of water and electricity, longer traffic jams on roads and suffocative pollution in the capital city. ‘We promised to provide 24 x 7 power supply and we have made it possible. It is a fact that in our neighbouring cities people are facing power cuts for 12 hours every day and the rates of power are much higher in those cities than Delhi,’ she said.
