The national Capital is gearing up to bring together people from all walks of life for interesting sessions on books, which will be held at Dilli Haat.
The fourth edition of Delhi Literature festival will be inaugurated by Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi, in the presence of Munawwar Rana, poet; Kapil Mishra, Minister for Art, Culture & Language & Tourism of NCT of Delhi; Baldeo Bhai Sharma, Chairman National Book Trust; Dr Burak Akcapar, Turkish Ambassador to India and Mahesh Sharma, Minister for Culture, Government of India. Festival will witness two book launches as Rakshanda Jalil will unveil her book published by Harper Collins and Neelima Kota will release her latest work published by Penguin.
Sankarshan Thakur, known for his books on Bihar will discuss his latest release ‘The Brothers Bihari’ which deals with social change through the years and the evolution of Nitish – Laalu alliance. It will be moderated by another journalist Ajay Kumar, News Nation.
Saba Naqvi, columnist – panelist commentator will be in conversation with Sudheendra Kulkarni, politician, Seshadri Chari, noted social activist, at the session titled ‘Coming of the Age of intolerance’ along with Mani Shankar Aiyar.This time there will also be two sessions in Hindi and Urdu which will focus on poetry. Hindi poets and writers like Om Thanvi, Rasbihari Gaur will be in conversation with Senior Editor of NDTV, Priyadarshan. Kumar Vishwas will also participate in a session dedicated to modern Hindi romantic poetry.
Omair Ahmad, Political Journalist, Analyst, Advisor will discuss his book ‘The Storyteller’s Tale’. He will be in conversation with Madhulika Liddle, Travel and Fiction writer.
Advertising Guru and creative strategist turned writer in 2013, Shujoy Dutta with his book ‘Like a Pinprick to the Heart’ will indulge in a conversation with Aditya Sinha, former Editor-in-Chief with DNA.
This year’s concluding session is expected to be seminal as it implores for a Rediscovery of India by the young contemporaries based on the vision of their forefathers.
A tribute session in honor of one of Independent India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru whose life, autobiographies and books like ‘The Discovery of India’, ‘Glimpses of World History’, ‘Letters from a Father to his Daughter’ still continue to inspire many. Pt. Nehru’s great-grandson Rahul Gandhi, Vice-President of the Indian National Congress, will engage in an enlightening session with Barkha Dutt, NDTV.
Live performances by Aanch, from Jamia Millia Islamia University will entertain the audience.
With the focus to pique the interest of young budding writers, provide them with useful insights, advice and guide them on to how to get their own book published; the Festival will be hosting Penguin India, Harper Collins, Om Books and Red Ink amongst others. The 4th Delhi Literature Festival 2016, is being Partnered by the Delhi Art, Culture & Language Department, Government of NCT of Delhi. The 2016 DLF has an array of current social and public issues amongst its themes with enlightening discussions with Anuj Dhar, author of ‘No Secrets and India’s Biggest Cover-up’.
The voice behind the crucial revelations in Aarushi Murder Case: Avirook Sen and Neeraj Kumar, former Police Commissioner of Delhi, presently Advisor to BCCI Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU); together they will explore Voyeurism and Tell-alls in the session with Madhu Trehan, India Today.
