Delhi Congress chief softens stand on Dikshit

Delhi Congress president Jai Prakash Aggrawal on Thursday praised chief minister Sheila Dikshit as the ‘face’ of the city and complimented her on the development in the city.

The development comes nearly a month after Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi asked the two leaders to bury the hatchet and work unitedly to ensure fourth successive victory for the party in the upcoming assembly polls. ‘Sheila Dikshit is the face of the city. She is known for her development model,’ Aggrawal said.

The city Congress chief was on Thursday addressing gathering at a function organised to felicitate newly-appointed Delhi Mahila Congress president Onika Mehrotra. Dikshit was also present at the event.

‘We are confident of winning the assembly polls for the fourth successive term. Our government in Delhi has left no stone unturned to ensure welfare of all sections of the city and I think, people will repose their faith in us,’ Aggrawal said.

It is a known fact that Aggrawal and Dikshit have been at loggerheads on various issues in the last few years and chief minister’s supporters had even pressed for change of DPCC leadership couple of months back.
