During his long career Chhabra has held various assignments in the Ministry of Railways and in ER, ECR, SWR, WR, NWR. Important assignments held include Area officer, Andal, Sr DOM/MGS, Operating & Commercial in Eastern Railway; DGM/G in Eastern Railway, ADRM/Bangalore, CCP/PM-Hubli, DRM/Bhavnagar, CSO, CCM,COM on ECR/Hajipur CCM in N W Railway, Jaipur.
Before taking charge of the IT of Indian Railways, he had wide experience of CRIS for 7 years, working as CSM/FOIS, GM/PRS; GGM/Systems. He contributed to implementation of FOIS, UTS, e-ticketing & NTES websites.
