Alleging massive irregularities in the appointment roster of the teaching faculty and financial corruption, the teachers of Deen Dayal Upadhyay College (DDU) has demanded the University administration to take immediate action against the principal of the college. The protesting teachers recently forced the principal to cancel the meeting of the Governing Body which is conducted in the beginning of the academic session.

According to the teaching staff of DDU, the college principal violated rules of appointments of the University and made an illegal roster. In the controversial roster, the principal of the college has shown only 106 teaching posts while a total 122 teaching posts are sanctioned for the college. “In the roster, he has shifted teaching posts reserved for SC/ST category into general category. Besides, some teaching posts of one department have been shown in other departments,” said Anurag Mishra, Associate Professor in DDU College.

“S K Garg is the principal of the college for the past 18 years. In this duration, he has not recruited even a single teacher from the SC/ST category,” added Mishra. The protesting teachers alleged that the principal pocketed huge money by illegally diverting grants from UGC to private firms. Besides, irregularities in the roster, the teachers also alleged corruption in appointment of ad-hoc teaches by the college.

“There has been massive appointment and financial irregularities in the college. We want a probe into the matter and action against all responsible persons,” said Nandita Narain, president DUTA who also joined the protesting teachers along with the office bearers of the Association. According to faculty of the college in a report the Registrar of the University T K Das has also indicated irregularities in appointment roster of the college.
