DDA completes allotment of 1982 scheme ‘on paper’

However, beneficiaries have claimed that the allotment has been done only on paper.

‘It is just a solace to applicants. DDA has just allotted plot numbers that too on paper. The area is completely undeveloped, barren land surrounded by unauthorised colonies.

DDA has violated Delhi Hight Court’s judgement of 2012 which had asked it not to allot underdeveloped plots to the beneficiaries,’ said Rahul Gupta, who is fighting the case in the court.

He further added that there is no infrastructure like roads, sewage, water and electricity connections in sector 38 in Rohini, where the plots were to be allotted. ‘The place is completely inhabitable, as of now’, he said.

Meanwhile, as per eligibility 639 LIG plots (32 sqm) and 111 Janta plots (26 sqm) were allotted in the draw held at DDA’s headquarters at Vikas Sadan in INA, DDA said in a statement on Friday. In the original scheme in 1982, DDA had launched 1.17 lakh residential plots across various categories, while 82,384 applicants had applied.

The first draw was held in 1982 itself and subsequent draws were continuously held from 1982 to 2007.

Up to 2007, 55,169 applicants had been allotted plots while 25,298 were waitlisted. Another mega draw was held in the year 2012 where another 24,668 were allotted plots on 12 June the same year.

However, the applicants have complained that they have still not got the possession of the plots which were allotted two years ago. ‘The DDA has not issued demand letters to the 24,668 allottees.
There is no development of any kind the sectors earmarked for those plots in Rohini,’ Rahul said.
