DDA clarifies charges of not demolishing posh areas

Delhi Development Authority on Monday denied the charges that it did not carry out demolition in posh areas and targets only low profile people.

In a specific case of ex-MLA from Okhla Asif Mohammad Khan, the authority clarified that the matter was refereed to Lokayukta and a contempt petition was filed which is scheduled on February 3, 2015. A PIL by Kamran Siddique alleging encroachments on government land in Khasra No 409 wherein Asif Mohammad Khan the area NMLA was also found to be a party.

The said Writ Petition was disposed of on May 2, 2012 with the directions to take suitable measures to protect the acquired land as per law,” said DDA in a statement. 

“Orders have also been passed to take action as the Revenue department has already completed the demarcation and no request for demarcation is pending with them,” it added. 

As per the total station survey it was found that DDA is in possession of 18 bigha 2 biswa land which is 3 bigha 7 biswa in excess of land in possession which was handed over to DDA. 

The authority also clarified its position on other lands in the area.
