Raising its concerns for the security of foreign nationals in the Capital, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has written a letter to Foreign Affairs Minister (FAM) Sushma Swaraj. In her letter to Swaraj, DCW chief, Swati Maliwal has demanded FAM to take cognisance of a case in which a Belgian national was molested by an Ola taxi driver in Delhi.
The DCW has also addressed its letter to Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and demanded the status report of the case.
“I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the issue of increasing crimes against women is not restricted to a few cases. The truth is that Delhi is suffering from an increasing spate in crimes against women. Every day, women including foreign nationals are being raped and molested in the Capital,” a DCW statement reads.
“I would also like to see some action on the increasing number of violence against all women particularly in the case where foreign nationals are victims,” DCW statement reads.
In her letter, Maliwal has pointed out that the lack of a unitary forum to discuss the issues related to crimes against women in the Capital has made the situation vulnerable.
