A press conference called by the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) to discuss an issue involving AAP leader Kumar Vishwas broke up in acrimony on Tuesday, with one of its members saying the former was being framed and announcing her exit from the women’s panel.
The presser was called to question Kumar Vishwas, after an AAP woman activist asked him to clear the air about “rumours” of their alleged affair.
As DCW chairperson Barkha Singh Shukla prepared to address the media, panel member Juhi Khan, sitting beside her, told the journalists that Kumar Vishwas was innocent and was being framed.
She also accused Barkha Singh, who is from the Congress party, of trying to “gain political mileage” out of the matter.
In fact, Juhi was as member of Delhi Commission for women by recommendation of former East Delhi Congress MP Sandeep Dikshit. There was a time when Khan was very close to Dikshit.
Juhi Khan is principal and founder of Tender Heart’s school , which is running in Zakir Nagar and Abul Fazal in Jamia Nagar. Khan then walked out and declared that she was quitting the DCW.
“Kumar Vishwas is innocent and he is being framed,” she said.
The DCW called the press conference after an AAP volunteer approached the women’s panel urging it to persuade Kumar Vishwas to publicly dispel allegations of an affair between the two.
The volunteer accused the AAP leader of not rebutting “rumours” of an illicit liaison with her and ruining her life.
The DCW on Monday reportedly issued summons to Kumar Vishwas in the case to appear before it on Tuesday. After Kumar Vishwas said he had not got any summons, Barkha Singh said fresh summons would be issued.
