Curfew still in force in Srinagar

Update: 2012-12-01 01:24 GMT
Curfew remained in force in most parts of the capital Srinagar on Friday. Friday prayers were not allowed in Jamia Masjid and other local mosques. Nine police stations were placed under curfew after clashes between Shia and Sunni groups on Wednesday.

Even as no untoward incident was reported after the imposition of curfew, the authorities however did not leave it to chance on Friday. They had apprehensions that situation could worsen after Friday prayers. DM Srinagar Baseer Ahmad Khan said on Thursday evening that there would be no relaxation in Curfew on Friday. Sources in the administration said that they would review the situation before deciding on the relaxation in curfew.
