Curfew was clamped on Tuesday in Chandan Nagar area here after violence broke out over the recovery of a cow carcass, as mobs clashed with police leaving 25 people, including 20 cops injured.
An SP and additional SP were among those injured in the violence as police fired tear gas shells to disperse the stone pelting protesters.
Enraged over the recovery of a cow caracas, a large number of people of a particular community staged a road blockade in the Chandan Nagar area here.
Later, members of another community allegedly started pelting them with stones which led to tension in the area, police said. When police intervened in the matter, people started attacking them also with stones and in the melee, 25 people, including 20 police personnel, suffered injuries, they said.
