CRPF on Tuesday handed over a cheque of more than Rs 18 crore to Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde for relief of Uttarakhand flash flood victims.
Personnel of the paramilitary force had contributed a day’s earning totalling Rs 18,01,46,637 and the cheque was presented by their chief Pranay Sahay along with senior officers to Shinde at his North Block office here.
CRPF has also sent two trucks of relief material for the victims. On 18 June, CRPF director general Pranay Sahay said, ‘The CRPF deeply commiserates with the victims of the tragedy that has struck Uttarakhand. There has been large scale destruction of property and loss of lives in this disaster. The victims are our own brethren.’ He then added, ‘The CRPF rank and file joins the countrymen in conveying its deepest concern for the victims of the tragedy. The officers and men have decided to donate one day’s salary to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
