Crime Branch solved a blind murder case of a missing contractor by arresting one Umesh. He shot dead the contractor identified as Tapan Madok at Mathura for having an illicit relationship with his wife. Due to non-identification, the body was cremated as unclaimed by Mathura Police after preserving it for three days. The ATM card of the deceased has been recovered from the accused Umesh Kumar.

According to the police, on December 19, they got a complaint from a man at Subhash Place police station that his brother-in-law Tapan (40), a native of Meghalaya has been missing since December 13. Tapan lived in Shakurpur area and worked as a contractor in Delhi-NCR.

“ We got a secret information on December 24 that a man identified as Umesh would come to meet someone at Shakarpur and laid a trap to arrest him,” said a senior police official.

During sustained interrogation, Umesh revealed that he befriended Tapan while they were working at a water treatment plant in Azadpur industrial area and when Tapan left and started working as an electrical contractor, Umesh too started working for him. He then started living in Tapan’s house and used to borrow money from Tapan frequently. When Umesh brought his wife to Delhi, he caught his wife and Tapan in a comprising position and became furious. But Tapan threatened him of dire consequences. Umesh decided to eliminate Tapan to take revenge for his misdeeds and arranged for a country-made pistol and took him on December 12 evening near Akbarpur road and shot at Tapan and fled with his ATM card, ID cards and some cash.

Umesh further disclosed that he hid the used weapon in the bushes near the spot and parked Tapan’s motorcycle at his native place.
