Crime Branch arrested one notorious human trafficker Jaswinder Singh. Singh was absconding since 2009 and was wanted in three cases of human trafficking by Indira Gandhi International Airport police station.
According to the police, Singh (54) was arrested from South-west Delhi. “Jaswinder Singh, alias Barhmi, was arrested by Crime Branch sleuths near Barat Ghar on Main Sagarpur Road,” said a senior Crime Branch official. “During interrogation, Singh revealed that he visited Libya and Saudi Arabia in the 1980s in search of work. During that period, he came in contact with Balbir and joined him in sending people abroad on forged passports and visas,” said the official.
Police said that the accused was arrested for the first time in a case registered against him under various sections of the IPC and Passport Act registered at Chanakyapuri police station in 1985. In 2009, two similar cases and later another case in connection with human trafficking were registered against him at IGIA police station. He was absconding since as police tried to nab him. He was declared a proclaimed offender by the courts, the officer said.
