Art works of every genre with the intention of presenting not only masters and moderns but also contemporaries and emerging youngsters’ with exquisite works of art on the whole is being displayed at a show organised in the Capital.

Works by masters from Bengal and artists from pre-independence era like MV Dhurandhar, Gaganendranath Tagore, Abanindranath Tagore, Nandalal Bose, Jamini Roy, Kalighat School, Mukul Chandra Dey, Devi Prasad Roy Chowdhury, Benode Behari Mukherjee, Abani Sen, Ram Kinkar Vaij, Chittaprasad Bhattacharya, Pran Krishna Pal are on display. With this collection of extraordinary paintings there are two sculptures by Megha Joshi and Yogesh Mahida are also exhibited.

Art lovers will also get an opportunity to own this rare works. An auction titled Pre-Independence Modern Masters Contemporary Genius organised by Art Deal Auction House will be held at Crest, Metropolitan Hotel on January 30.

Some of the highlights in the auction are works of experts, such as Gaganendranath Tagore who worked hand-in-hand with the inspiration of Japanese artist Yokonama Taikan.

He integrated Japanese style brush work with subtle play of earthy colours often with a glowing background. His works with strong far easten influences invoke oriental vastness and an infiniteness of space.

Wherein, Jamini Roy, a skillful portraitist and versatile artist deviated from academic western style to Indian roots seeking inspiration from India’s rich folk and tribal art. His early landscapes in audacious brush strokes are reminiscent of his academic training in western traditions made in the impressionist genre of painting. Another artist whose paintings created a buzz during pre-independence and post-independence era was Mukul Chandra Dey, a sensitive artist, he was a prominent painter who specialised in dry point etching, a European practice but his subjects remained indigenous.

Pablo Picasso is known for the number of styles he worked with and created during various periods of his life. The quality of working in varied styles also manifested in his graphics.

Picasso used dry point combined with original print making techniques usually to produce simplistic and expressive lines. His art works are a sure attraction for art lovers.  To steal the lime light of the show with its lucrative offer are the works of Somenath Hore, Ram Kumar, FN Souza, Anindita Bhattacharya, Megha Joshi and Mitali Shah.

With this exhibition Tagore, has given a flag off to a new auction house Artdeal which offers 109 lots in the auction.
