Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday hiked the income limit of creamy layer for the other Backward Caste (OBCs) categories and decided to adjust the 1.70 lakh working Shiksha Mitras in the government primary schools. Besides it has also introduced Samajwadi Pension scheme and announced new excise police making liquor costlier by 10-12 per cent.
The government has also announced to take up three early bird projects under the Delhi- Mumbai Industrial Corridor(DMIC) in Noida and Greater Noida. Besides reservation criteria in promotion to Higher Judicial Services from Judicial Services have also been changed.
The decisions were taken in the state cabinet meeting here, chaired by chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.
State chief secretary briefing the media persons here said that now the income limit of the OBCs has been hiked to Rs. 8 lakh per annum from the existing Rs. 5 lakh, adopted in 2008. The state government has also changed the promotion policy of the Higher Judicial Services. Now 65 per cent seats would be reserved for promotion from the Judicial Services to Higher Judicial Services which was earlier only 50 per cent. The reservation in the promotion through competitive examination has been decreased to 10 per cent from 25 per cent. However direct recruitment reservation of 25 per cent remains the same.

The new rule is slated to be announced within a week’s time, the Chief secretary announced. In another decision government disbanded Rani Laxmibai Pension Scheme, and announced to launch Samajwadi Pension in the state to provide pension of Rs. 500 per month to about 4 million poor families of the state. This would be the second government scheme to be named on the political lines after the Samajwadi Ambulance Service.
