Cow slaughter ban: VHP asks Centre to honour Himachal HC order

Update: 2015-10-17 22:22 GMT
The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Friday welcomed the Himachal Pradesh high court order, directing the Centre to consider enacting a law banning cow slaughter and asked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led dispensation to honour its “commitment and public sentiments” within three months.

The right wing outfit also hoped that the Congress, which has already banned cow slaughter in many states during its tenure, and other parties leave their “narrow political motives” and come forward to support the government in doing so.

“All concerned should come forward for the immediate compliance of the order. To honour its commitment, public sentiments, compliance of the court’s order and constitutional provisions, the Union government should not delay it <g data-gr-id="72">any more</g>,” VHP joint general secretary Surendra Jain said. Attacking those opposing the ban, Jain said: “Nowadays, some so-called intellectuals are busy hurting Hindu sentiments by making a mockery of <g data-gr-id="71">ban</g> on cow slaughter for their vested interest. We hope that after this verdict of the HC, they all will also support its implementation and stop defaming the Centre."
