A Delhi court on Thursday fixed 9 January 2013 to hear argument on charge against Delhi BJP president Vijender Gupta and six other party leaders in an alleged case of causing harm to public property during a protest here last year.
Metropolitan Magistrate Jasjeet Kaur announced the hearing date after directing police to supply the charge sheet and other documents to the accused. The leaders were accused of rioting, unlawful assembly, obstructing public servants in discharge of their duty and other various charges under the Indian Penal Code. They have denied the charges. The court was hearing a case against Gupta and six other BJP leaders for damaging public property during a protest last year.
