A day after a 24-year-old nurse hailing from Manipur allegedly went missing from her working women’s hostel in Janakpuri on Wednesday, a WhatsApp message sent by the Delhi Police to the man with whom she was last seen, brought back the woman. While the police were in the process of registering an FIR, Megha (name changed) appeared with the man, both now married, said senior officers. Worried that Megha was abducted, her friends had approached the police. Moreover, Megha’s family in Manipur was also informed. She was last seen with Kundan, the receptionist at a private hospital.
According to the police, on Wednesday afternoon, Megha, working as a nurse at a private nursing home in Janakpuri, was going back to her hostel with a friend when Kundan intercepted them and said he wanted to talk to Megha in private. Megha’s friend then left them. When she did not return late in the evening, her friends started searching for her.
They then approached the Janakpuri police station and filed a missing complaint. Taking cognisance of the matter that the girl was from a North-Eastern state, Delhi Police chief Alok Verma himself monitored the case. During the investigation, police found that mobile numbers of both Megha and Kundan were switched off. However, in a bid to reach Megha, one of the cops sent a WhatsApp message on Kundan’s mobile phone saying that if he does not bring Megha back, he will fall in trouble.
On receiving the message, Kundan brought Megha to the Janakpuri police station on Friday afternoon, just before an FIR could be lodged. However, by that time, the two had tied the knot.
