A day after a 64-year-old retired government employee from Kerala was found murdered in his third floor flat at Samachar Apartments in East Delhi’s Mayur Vihar Phase-I Extension area, Delhi Police have not been able to make any breakthrough in the sensational murder case. Senior officers of the East district said that they have formed 12 teams to investigate the matter and are working on all angles to probe the case.

The deceased identified as Vijay Kumar lived with his wife, Vasundhra who worked in the Income Tax department. The incident came to light at around 2.15 pm when Kumar’s daughter, Ambali, a senior producer at the Rajya Sabha TV went to check on her father.

On Wednesday afternoon, Kumar was found stabbed to death by his daughter Ambali. At around 2.15 pm, she came to check on her father as her phone calls went unanswered. She spotted him lying in a pool of blood with his body covered with a mattress, said police.

Family members also told cops that some cash and a TV set were missing from the house.

In one of the CCTV footage obtained by the police, cops found that a woman in her thirties was seen leaving the Samachar Apartments premises. Meanwhile, police are scanning through the CCTV footages of all the gates of the residential complex and are also scanning through the registers maintained by the security guards to check if someone visited Kumar’s house.

Millennium Post had earlier reported that sources said that there were tea cups lying on the table indicating that the culprits were possibly known to Kumar. There were reports that there were lipstick marks on one of the tea cups. Coupled with this, there were no signs of forced entry on the main door.
