A Delhi Police constable was thrashed by people of a particular community for entering Sis Ganj Sahib Gurudwara with his shoes. He accidentally entered inside the premises while maintaining law and order situation in the area while a part of the structure of the gurudwara was being demolished on Wednesday.
A highly-placed source told Millennium Post that on Wednesday afternoon, the policeman who was in his uniform accidentally entered inside the gurudwara with his shoes on. Soon after it was noticed, people around the place became violent and started thrashing him up. All of them attacked the cop and tore his uniform too.
He also lost his service revolver which was later found by another cop. However, the magazine of the revolver is still missing. The identity of the policeman was not shared by senior police officials.
When the incident was reported to top cop Alok Verma, he asked the senior officials of North Zone to find out the exact sequence of events. According to the source, a probe is on to find out the circumstances under which he entered the gurudwara in his shoes. However, the victim told the concerned officials that the incident happened in negligence and he also rendered an apology.
No case has been registered against the persons who attacked the cop while he was on duty. Further investigation is underway, said the police.
