Admitting that controlling law and order in the state is the biggest challenge for his eight month old government, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday said that his government will not compromise on the matter as it reflects the image of the SP government.
‘My government has given free hand to police, first time by any Samajwadi Party government, and I expect them to work honestly and efficiently,’ he said without elaborating it further. This SP government would not tolerate any laxity from the police officials and they have to pull up their socks so that the government’s image is not pictured in bad taste,’ the CM warned.
The CM in his new directive has asked the district police to prepare a list of miscreants in their region so that they can be tracked during to the time of any crime.’ This list should be prepared immediately as people should not compare us with the previous BSP government who had also announced to declare 500 criminals of the state but could not do so,’ he said.
The CM admitted that the state government has started improvement in the field of power, roads and other sectors.’ But improvement of law and order is must, as it showcases the total image of the government,’ he claimed.
Castigating the BSP without taking the name of Mayawati, the CM said, ‘A person after having a lunch in Delhi recently claimed that law and order situation in UP has deteriorated by 100 per cent. It was good that she had vegetarian food in the lunch, if it was non-veg then her statement would have been more critical on UP’s law and order.’
Talking about the police officials of UP CM said that there are several good officers in the state and they are trying to improve the image of the government by controlling the law and order situation.’ Laxity would not be tolerated at any cost,’ he reminded.
Earlier, inaugurating the call centre at his official residence here Yadav said that the concept was developed by a team of senior police officials with the help of IT experts after several women complained about their harassment on mobile phones or through SMS to him personally or in the Janata Darshan.
