According to the police, the incident came to light in the morning when some construction workers went to the victim’s residence and found the door locked from inside. On suspicion, they broke open the door and found the victim, Bandhu Roy, lying unconscious on the bed and bleeding from the nose, police said.
The workers made a PCR call and the police took Roy to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
The police also informed his family members, who reached New Delhi in the afternoon.
According to the police, Roy was alone in his house when the incident took place. Roy, a resident of Bihar had got his daughter married off on June 20. For the wedding ceremony, the entire family had gone to Bihar. While Roy returned to Delhi two days ago, his other family members were supposed to return on Sunday afternoon, police said.
Meanwhile, the police have sent his body for post-mortem examination. The autopsy is likely to be conducted on Monday, after which a case would be registered, police said.
“We are investigating the case from all angles. So far, no foul play could be sensed in the incident,” a police official said.
