With elections to the Delhi assembly less than a month away, the Congress is ready to woo voters with a long list of promises. The party’s manifesto is likely to be released around next week.
According to sources, if the Congress is voted to power for a fourth term it will construct double-decker roads, two corridor monorails with a combined length of 30 km, three routes of light rail transit system (LRT), strengthen social welfare schemes such as Ladli Yojana, Annashree Yojna and Food Security Programme.
The Congress is planning to augment the public transport system through the introduction of a network of LRT. Congress, if voted back to power, is also planning to construct double-decker roads to decongest traffic. The Public Works Department has given two options for the double-decker roads project. East-west Corridor from Pragati Maidan to Punjabi Bagh through New Delhi Railway Station and other from Dhaula Kuan to Mukarba Chowk.
Apart from this, the Congress lay emphasis on skill development to make available the best additional opportunities of employment. The manifesto is also set to propose the second version of Laadli Scheme ‘Qaabil Laadli’ would be given the new dimensions.
