Agarwal said that the party has already prepared a panel of ‘winnable candidates’ for each of the 28 constituencies, where the Congress lost in the 2008 assembly polls.

‘I was not interested in announce the list of those candidates before the Diwali festival. This is because, those aspiring for tickets should enjoy the festivities,’ said Agarwal.

Agarwal added, ‘Congress has leaders with a very clean image, therefore I don’t feel any sort of problems would arise ahead of selection for those 28 candidates. However, those ticket aspirants, who lost in the last assembly election by margin of 1,000 votes, will not be considered.

At the last meeting of the screening committee the issue of those MLAs with criminal cases against them had been raised. Members had pointed out that MLA from Jangpura  Talvinder Singh Marwah, MLA from Badli and a few others have cases against them.
