Ahead of assembly elections, the Congress on Tuesday raised the issue of “bogus votes” before the Election
Commission and also asked it to conduct the polls without any further loss of time. Alleging that there are more than one lakh “fake voters” in Mundka and Vikaspuri constituencies, the city Congress
chief Arvinder Singh claimed, “Our party workers recently conducted door-to-door survey in six Delhi Assembly constituencies and found there were several persons who had 10 to 15 votes each in these constituencies. In Mundka alone, we found around 40,000 bogus votes.”
“In view of the gravity of irregularities in voter’s list, we demand ECI should depute special teams to conduct door-to-door verification along with the representatives of political parties”, Singh told reporters here.
While saying that the assembly election results of Jharkhand and Jammu & Kashmir will not have any impact on Delhi, the Congress urged EC to hold polls in the national Capital at the earliest.
Senior Congress leader Haroon Yusuf and spokesperson Mukesh Sharma were also part of the delegation which met Chief Election Commissioner, V S Sampath here.
