The Congress has accusred the BJP of increasing the property tax for commercial properties through ‘back door’ measures in the three municipal corporations of the city. The councillors of the Congress party led Mukesh Goel, leader of opposition in North Delhi Municipal Corporation walked out of the meeting of the house on Thursday in protest against the tax hike.
‘The ruling BJP in the three municipal corporations including North DMC had promised not to increase any tax or impose any new tax but they have hiked property tax on commercial properties by 8 per cent which is unjustified,’ said Goel.
