Both major parties, the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party, on Monday lashed out against former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal over his decision to resign along with his council of ministers.
Calling the move an insult to the people of Delhi, city Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely said that the resignation was Arvind Kejriwal’s attempt to hide his failures and that he was trying to fool the people over the issue of the Jan Lokpal Bill.
Senior BJP leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra alleged that Kejriwal could not send a single corrupt person to jail during his 49-day as the chief minister of the city. Delhi is inundated with hundreds of mafia and criminal gangs, Malhotra said.
The Congress chief said Kejriwal has broken all records in telling lies during his 49-day tenure. He further said that the Congress Party will go to the people of Delhi to expose all the false announcements, and the party will announce its action plan on Tuesday.
The Congress legislative party leader Haroon Yusuf said the people of Delhi were feeling helpless now due to Kejriwal’s irresponsible action.
He said the Congress had yet again proved by voting for the finance bill to give Rs 372 crore power subsidy that it was with the government in matters benefitting the people.
