The Delhi State Election Commission is yet to announce the dates for by-poll in 13 MCD wards, but political parties have already started their efforts to gain maximum number of seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress held public meetings on Sunday to encourage their workers.

Delhi Congress president and former Union Minister Ajay Maken addressed a public meeting in Tilak Nagar and also participated in 10-km road show (padyatra) along with senior party leaders, including ex-MP Mahabal Mishra and senior leader Mukesh Sharma.

“He took out a 10-km-long padayatra in blazing heat to informally start the campaign for by-election to the Nawada ward,” said a Congress spokesperson.

Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay also chaired a meeting of party workers. Lok Sabhas MPs Ramesh Bidhuri, Meenakshi Lekhi, Dr Udit Raj and Parvesh Verma were also present.
