Delhi Government is unable to implement direct cash scheme due to incomplete enrollment of Delhi residents. In this regard, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, on Friday, called a meeting to review Aadhar enrollment in the capital.
It was reported that 94 per cent of the population has been enrolled for Aadhar card. The high-level meeting was attended by Food and Civil Supplies Minister Haroon Yusuf, Chief Secretary D M Spolia, chairman(UIDAI) Nandan Nilekani and Divisional Commissioner.
Dikshit instructed the Divisional Commissioner to complete the enrollment by 31 March. She exhorted people to get themselves enrolled as Aadhar number is going to be essential to avail benefits under various social sector schemes.
The implementation of nine centrally-sponsored schemes under Aadhar-based Direct Cash Transfer mode was also discussed in detail. While reviewing the status, Dikshit directed the Revenue Department to extend its implementation in all 11 Revenue districts.
The issue of opening of no-frill bank accounts was also discussed.
