Complaining against classmates proves deadly for monitor

The victim, Subham Jindal (14), was a <g data-gr-id="39">class</g> monitor. Both the accused, who were the natives of Jhajjar (Haryana), have been detained on Monday. The accused were produced at a juvenile court from where they were sent to a juvenile reforming home.

Jindal and the two accused were the students of class 9 at Krishna Model School in Najafgarh. The accused, who were cousins, became jealous of Jindal after he was made class monitor. The victim’s father Anil Jindal owns a shop and he was the only child.

“The incident came to light around 11.30 pm on Sunday when the victim’s father Anil Jindal filed a complaint that his 14-year-old son has not returned home. The police immediately registered a case of kidnapping and several teams have been formed to trace the boy,” said a senior police officer, adding that after four hours, the Jindal’s body was found lying next to his bicycle near a crematorium, around 500 metres away from his residence in Roshan Nagar.

The investigation revealed that Jindal was last spotted with two of his classmates in Roshan Nagar. “When a police team went to the residence of both the accused at Najafgarh area, they came to know that the duo left the city and went to their grandfather’s residence at Jhajjar in Haryana. Later, the team detained both of them from Jhajjar. Jindal body has been sent to a hospital for <g data-gr-id="41">post-mortem,”said</g> Deputy Commissioner of Police RA Sanjeev.

The investigation further revealed that the accused were looking for an opportunity to settle scores with Jindal. They met Jindal at Najafgarh area on Sunday evening where they had a heated argument. “When the accused threatened him of being rude in class, Jindal flaunted his academic capabilities on which the duo challenged him for a cycle race till a local crematorium to prove his athletic skills. When Shubham won the cycle race, one of the accused smashed his head with a wooden stick. Later, his cousin joined him and both of them mercilessly killed Jindal and fled the scene,” a police officer said.
