Delhi Labour Minister Gopal Rai on Tuesday convened an emergency meeting of the Board to consider the report of the two member-committee that was constituted to inquire into the accident that occurred on March 9 at the construction site of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
“The committee was directed to examine and recommend the compensation and other benefits if any, to the injured workers and dependents of the deceased workers,” said labour Minister Gopal Rai.
“The Board announced in the meeting that an amount of Rs 2 lakh each as provided under Rule-278 of Delhi Rules-2002 be released to the legal heirs or dependents of the deceased workers as accidental death compensation amount,” said Rai.
It was also decided in the Board meeting that the legal heirs may also be released an amount of Rs 10,000/ each as provided under Rule-277 of Delhi Rules-2002 as funeral assistance from the cess funds of the Board. In case of the three injured workers, an amount of Rs10,000 each as provided under Rule-280 of Delhi Rules-2002 may be released from the cess fund of the Board. The board also suggested that these three workers should also be registered under DBOCWWB so that they and their family members can also claim the benefits of various welfare schemes of the Delhi Construction Board after registration.
