Delhi University is about to commence admissions for its undergraduate courses on June 25 and yet there is no clarity on the course structures, syllabi and examination schemes for the courses offered under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) which has been implemented by the university.
The Delhi University Teacher’s Association (DUTA) has condemned the forceful implementation of CBCS. The association claims that its implementation is even more rushed than the FYUP and the University is even less prepared to implement it.
“With less than one month left for the new academic session to begin, colleges under DU are completely at a loss. Preparation of libraries, labs, workload calculation, hiring of faculty and preparation of time-table have come to a standstill. As usual, these tasks will be rushed at the last minute straining the units further,” said Nandita Narain, president DUTA.
The United Grant’s Commission announced universities could modify the draft syllabi up to 30 <g data-gr-id="20">per cent</g> instead of the previous autonomy of 20 per cent offered to the colleges.
The association claims that this information has not been notified to the universities and would not make much of a difference.
“These half-baked syllabi will damage the fundamental concepts of lakhs of students. The hurried implementation of the CBCS lacks quality and would adversely affect the career of lakhs of students,” said Harish Khanna, secretary DUTA.
