A delegation of Wakf Board, Delhi, led by chairman Mateen Ahmed met the Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit at her office at the Delhi Secretariat on Friday.
The meeting was held to discuss several issues relating to the functioning of the board. Dikshit underlined the need of proper maintenance and management of Wakf properties.
It was decided to constitute a committee to suggest measures to protect, maintain and manage Wakf properties and put an end to the ongoing encroachment and non-recovery of rent amount.
This would help in increasing the income resulting in better upkeep.
The committee is likely to be chaired by the chief minister. The revenue minister, divisional commissioner, chairman (Wakf Board) along with board’s prominent members and other eminent personalities may be inducted in the committee.
