CM Kejriwal thanks Delhiites for successful Odd-Even

Update: 2016-05-05 00:31 GMT
In the thanksgiving function organised at Chhatrasal Stadium, Arvind Kejriwal quoted Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s poem “Koshish karne walo ki kabhi haar nahin hoti” to illustrate that the success of odd-even was due to the sincere efforts of the citizens and various stakeholders.

Kejriwal also highlighted that even though a lot of effort was made by the Opposition to fail odd even-2, it was made successful because of his government’s policy. Delhi Transport minister Gopal Rai was also present at the event.

Issues like auto strike, violation of rules by a BJP MP and fire at Bhalswa could not deter the success of odd-even-2 said Kejriwal. He also said that the successful implementation of odd-even-2 showed that Delhiites respect the law. In respect to the criticism that pollution spiked during the scheme, he mentioned Centre for Science’s data that said that the air quality had improved in the first 10 days
but worsened after April 21 due to the smoke of crop fires in Punjab and Haryana.

He, however, acknowledged that odd-even is a short term measure to deal with pollution.
