The home would provide social integration and socio-economic rehabilitation of mentally-improved patients. Delhi would have five such homes and DSIIDC has been entrusted construction work of five half way homes with an estimated cost of Rs 48 crore.
Government officials said the aim and objective of setting up half way home and day care center is to provide a facilitating mechanism for rehabilitation of persons whose mental illness is controlled after their discharge from hospitals.

Dikshit said, ‘Mentally-improved patients take time in social integration and making themselves useful for the society. The homes would help them in forgetting past memories of separation from the society. The home is a noble initiative of social welfare department. Probably, it is going to be first half way home in the country’.
Government officials said the inmates would be able to get integrated into normal life within a reasonable period. Eminent physicians, psychologists and sociologists would visit the inmates.
