According to the police, the incident took place at around 10 pm near Keval Park in Adarsh Nagar when the deceased, Vijay Kumar Wadhwa was returning to his home in Jahangipuri. Like everyday, he was carrying his bag of money with him and riding towards his home when unidentified persons tried to rob him of the cash.
Sources said that while he was on his way back home in his scooty, two bike-borne assailants came and tried to take away his bag full of cash. When he resisted their attempt, they allegedly shot at him. Sources also said that in order to help Wadhwa, a man passing by in a car was also shot at by the unidentified accused but escaped unhurt.
Police said that one of the passer-by informed the police after which Wadhwa was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. His body will be handed over to his family after the post-mortem.
A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the Adarsh Nagar police
station against unknown persons.
Meanwhile, police are trying to scan through the CCTV footage of the area to establish the exact sequence of events. They are also questioning eye-witnesses. Further investigation is on.
