China visit outcomes will take ties to new level: Modi

Modi, who met Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the standing committee of China's National People's Congress, said that parliamentary exchanges are an important pillar of the bilateral relationship and stressed on the need to broaden the foundation of relations by also promoting exchanges between state-level legislatures, an official release said.  "The PM recalled his extremely productive visit to China last <g data-gr-id="18">month,</g> and said that the outcomes of the visit will take the <g data-gr-id="17">India China</g> relationship to a new level," the release said.

Modi also highlighted the importance of peaceful, stable and cooperative relations between India and China for regional and global peace and prosperity. Zhang said that there is a new level of interest about India in China across all sectors, including among the businesses "due to Modi's visit to China and his leadership in India", the release said. 

"He endorsed the view expressed by the prime minister in China that whether 21st Century is Asian century will depend on what India and China achieve individually and jointly," the release said. Modi said Zhang emphasised the importance of promoting investment, trade, tourism and people-to-people ties and enhancing strategic communication and coordination.
