Children’s corpses go missing from Noida graveyard

Update: 2015-10-09 00:38 GMT
Almost a decade after the infamous Nithari killing case, disappearances of children’s corpses from a graveyard in Noida has created panic among the local residents.

The police, during their initial investigation, have taken it as a serious issue and claimed to investigate the matter from all angles.

As per reports, three children, who died recently, were buried at a graveyard located near GIP mall and Film City. Imam Mohammaed Syed, who helps in conducting last rites at the graveyard, informed that Al Hamad, an eight-month-old child  from Sector 9, died on Tuesday due to illness and was buried late at night.

Around 6 am on Wednesday when the Imam along with Hamad’s father Tabrez and siblings reached graveyard to perform some rituals, they were surprised to find the corpse missing. The family members also failed to trace the caretaker.

After the incident, the family members informed the police. They claimed that the corpse was dug out from the graveyard intentionally. When the matter came to light, another family reported the missing of a one-and-half month old baby’s corpse on September 30 from the same place. Hazi Tajjuddin, a family member of the child, said they had buried the corpse at the back end of the graveyard.

He had approached the police seeking investigation into the matter. He also told cops that another child’s corpse had gone missing 10 days back. Tajjuddin claimed that if the graves were dug open many more such incidents were likely to surface. “If the family members are involved in this, more such cases may come to light. Several families are still unaware whether the corpses of their kin are missing or not,” he said.

“We have taken the issue seriously and are investigating the matter. We are taking help of experts so that we could ascertain the exact reason behind the missing corpses,” said Kiran S, SSP of Noida.
