The former Finance Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram is likely to become Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, whereas, Jyotiraditya Scindia likely to replace Captain Amrinder Singh as deputy leader in Lok Sabha sources said.
The decision has been taken by the party top brass as the present LOP and party's another senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has been appointed as the party general secretary and in-charge for Uttar Pradesh with an eye to the upcoming Assembly polls in the state and Singh is all set to steer the party's poll campaign in Punjab.
Recently, the Enforcement Directorate's investigation into the controversial Aircel-Maxis deal against P. Chidambaram's son Karti Chidambaram left the senior leader in a spot of bother.
However, the senior Congress leader though rubbished the allegations against his son. The Congress party also defended him during the last Parliament session when the issue was raised on the floor of the house.
