A youth was allegedly duped by a person in the name of Law Minister Salman Khurshid. The accused, Karan Singh, came in contact with the victim Jagdish Prasad nearly a month ago. Singh assured Prasad of a job in Railway and Petroleum department, in exchange for around Rs 15 lakh. He showed him a letterhead of the Union Law Minister to prove his authenticity.
Prasad, a graduate and a resident of Shastri Nagar, was desperately looking for a job at the time.
Singh lives in a rented accommodation in Karola Bagh’s Bedenpura area. He assured Prasad that he had good contacts in the ministries, through which he could get him the job of Assistant Station Master. But a few days after the payment was made, Singh’s phone became unreachable. When Prasad tried to approach Singh at his residence, he found the house locked. He then lodged a complaint at Karol Bagh police station.
The case was later transferred to Delhi police crime branch. ‘We have registered a case of cheating and started the investigation,’ said a senior police officer of crime branch. Prasad told the police that he even tried to commit suicide after being cheated. Police officials, however, have assured him of a quick arrest.
