Char Dham Yatra begins on day of ‘Akshaya Trithi’

Thousands of devotees from all parts of the country thronged at Yamunotri and Gangotri temples and paid their obeisance on auspicious day of Akshaya Trithi. As per Hindu mythology, on this day Goddess Ganga descended from heaven and took the form of river. It is also believed that Lord Hari Narayan Vishnu took incarnation of three forms namely Parshuram, Nar-Narayan and Hargreeva on Akshata Trithi.

Yamunotri temple was opened at 11:15 am, while Gangotri temple’s opened its door for pilgrims at 2:25 pm.
