The Central Railway on Friday said it will throw open a section of the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus building in south Mumbai for public viewing from Monday. ‘Our objective is to enable tourists, especially the young school and college students, to see and experience the rich heritage that it offers,’ Central Railway General Manager Subodh Jain told reporters after inaugurating `Visitors Lounge’ in the building. Railway is aiming to attract around 25,000 visitors a year. Designed by eminent British architect F W Stevens, the building, named Victoria Terminus then, was built in 1888. Now it houses the headquarters of the Central Railway. It was included in the UNESCO world heritage list in 1994. But tourists were not allowed inside until now. CR is going to charge entry fee of Rs 100 for students and Rs 200 for others.
