Presented against the backdrop of Sabavala’s masterpiece, The Spirit of India, is titled the same because Sabavala’s work best encapsulated the idea of a multi-layered, synergetic spirit that defied closure and definition.
Comprised of artworks reflecting varied and distinct styles, visual sounds and creative vocabularies, the Nvya collection aims at being as authentic a mosaic of the artistic spirit as possible, as honest an echo of that indefinable something that makes possible the simultaneous losing and finding of oneself.
This is a collection of works by artists to make possible an experience of art that chooses the medium of the visual to go beyond the confines of language, to touch the spirit of the artists’ imaginative landscape. This idea of the ‘spirit’ is the core essence of the collection.
Some of the artists participating in the exhibition include Arpana Caur, Jehangir Sabavala, KS
Radhakrishnan, Lal Bahadur Singh, Manu Parekh, MF Husain, Nayanaa Kanodia, Paresh Maity, Ramakanth Thumrugoti, Revati Sharma Singh, Sakti Burman, Seema Kohli, Shipra Bhattacharya, Shuvaprasanna, Suman Gupta, Thota Vaikuntam, Viraj Naik and Viveek Sharma and others.
